Funny Kid.

Just a quick little funny that Dawson said to me the other day.

Dawson- My Tummy hurts.
Maybe there's a baby growing in my tummy too.

Oh, he makes me laugh!

Xander's 1st grade program

On Tuesday all the first graders in the school participated in a program about cultures all over the world. Each class was assigned a different location and then they learned a dance from their county or area. And as a group they all sang about 4 different songs.
Can you tell where Xander's class was from????
Xander's class did an Irish jig. It was very fun to watch and Xander had a blast performing.
On a side note, if you notice his front tooth looks funny, it is about to fall out. Xander forgot to sing a couple of the songs because he was so focused on wiggling his tooth.
What do ya do? He's trying to get a 'Gold Dollar' from the tooth fairy.

Mardi Gras Meet- 03-26-2010

Kenzie had another gymnastic meet tonight. The meet theme was Mardi Gras Classic. It was held down in Springville at Airtime gymnastics. What can I say about this meet. Every meet has the same routines and the same leotards but, every meet can be unpredictable. The equipment though it may look all the same can be very different. For example, the beam tonight Kenz said was very slippery. She said it was greasy. Go figure. There is usually chalk on the beam to help the gymnast's feet grip the beam better. Some bars have more bounce to them. And some vault mats are too high or too squishy. These little things, we as parents may not notice but make a huge difference to the girls.

Not to mention the judges. The girls have no control over the judges. There is one judge in particular that shows up at all meets and we just know she's a very tough judge. She'll deduct for every little thing. We're talking the fullest deductions possible too. And wouldn't ya know it she was there tonight, judging the bars.

She scores low and deducts often. My friend Emma and I make fun of her by saying

"I might be smiling in your face but, I'm screwing your score."

All I've ever asked of Kenz is to do her best and have fun. That's all I expect of her.

Now onto Kenzie's scores

Vault: 8.7 (Deducted because she took 5 steps running instead of 6)

Bars: 7.85 (She was deducted a point for her hands touching on her landing)

Beam: 8.725

Floor: 9.175

Kenz went from having floor being her lowest scoring event to her highest scoring event. I was the loud, proud momma screaming "Go Kenzie" She jumped up and down as her score flashed on the scoreboard and it flashed a 9.

On her all-around score she earned a 34.45. This earned her a silver medal for her level.

We are so proud of you Mackenzie. Keep trying your hardest and know that we love you. No-matter what the score may be. You're always a perfect 10 in our eyes.

Winter fun

Here are a few random pics of the kids having fun in the snow.

Now the snow is gone and my flowers are growing and the sunshine is getting warm. And I am a very happy mom.

Teach a child in the way they should go.

We came home from church yesterday and while I was getting lunch for the kids Dawson was singing to himself. I wasn't too surprised by this because he often sings random, half made-up songs. Alot of the time it's half a primary song mixed with random words like elephant or some other thing on his mind. Well, he caught my attention with this little ditty,
"Follow the Prophet, follow the prophet, follow the prophet, he knows the way. Now everyone, let's follow my mommy, follow my mommy, follow my mommy. She says what to do! And we're following the leader, following the leader, the leader, the leader, mom is my leader, the leader, the leader. She knows the way."
Guess I've raised him right!

It's been a good week.

We have had a great week here in the Keith family. The week started off with beautiful weather. We all sported pink cheeks and noses. Now Xander already has a tanned face and Dawson has a nice tanned neck. I love the sunshine. It just puts me in a happy mood and things are good.
I worked in my flower beds earlier this week. I cleaned them out and cut the dead flowers out I missed last year before the snow hit. Squatting that long proved to be semi-painful. It was more the getting up that was painful. But, it was so nice to be outside.
Now onto more fun stuff,
Xander finally decided to have the training wheels taken off his bike. He rode his scooter so much last year we never got around to it. Then winter came. What more can I say! We took his training wheels off and I told him to wait for me to go in and go potty then I would come out and help him. Well, by the time I came out he was riding up and down the ally all by himself. No need to wait for mom.

Yesterday, Mackenzie had her first gymnastic competition of the season. She did awesome. She scored her first '9.1' on her vault. It was beautiful! She was so proud and beamed with pride. I almost even shed a tear. That result made all her sacrifice and our sacrifices worth it. Her all-around score was a 34.87. Her highest score yet. She even ranked top in her competition level. We are some very proud parents.
We have video of her events coming soon.
And that is just some of the fun stuff going on around at our house.

The junk car

While driving to gymnastics today Xander spots a car and claims;
that car is a hunk of junk. It doesn't even have a roof.

It was a convertible.

St. Patrick's Day

Xander and Kenz were picking out their clothes tonight to wear to school tomorrow-St. Patrick's Day. I reminded them to wear green so they wouldn't get pinched.
Dawson then said, "St. Patrick's Day, when is Spongebob Day."

3 new posts below!!!

Kindness....

So my thought for today is Kindness... Pass it on.
I called the courthouse today to pay that stinkin' fine for 'no seat belt'. Figured I better take care of it before there's a warrant out for me. How cool would that be though. Until I'm caught.
The lady that answered asked if I could hold right away. No prob.
Then she put me on hold 2 more times. Finally the fine was paid and she came back with my confirmation #.
And at the end of our conversation she said to me,"Thank you for being so courteous and happy." It kind of caught me of guard. I said, "well your welcome." She then said, "I don't get alot of positive, happy people during my day. And I appreciate your cheerfulness." Again I said, your welcome and told her that in her profession I guessed she wouldn't come across much happiness. She then said, "I'm going to just remember our conversation to help me get through the rest."
I hope that poor lady, who's just doing her job, gets a break and that more people who call her will show her little kindness. After all, she's not the one that broke the law!

Quick side note.

One more quick side note. If you look at the baby count down, it is officially 2 days off. It should say as of right now, today. 31 days left. Can you believe it! This has been the fastest, easiest pregnancy ever! Sorry to all those cursing me right now.
But because it was so easy we could keep it a secret until I was almost 6 months along. Then I popped and there was no hiding it any longer. But look how fast that made it go.
No i'm on home stretch and the end is in sight.
Then it's only the beginning.

Whatta Weekend

This weekend started out with a great Friday. I had my regular scheduled doctor appt. And I finally was able to set my induction date. Little Man will officially arrive April 16th, unless he decides to change the date. Which he is more than welcome to.
Also, This same wonderful Friday (the 12th) was my mom's birthday. Mom, I just want you to know how much I love and admire you. You've always been my rock and have supported me through everything. Even if that meant living almost 2 thousand miles apart. I am so blessed to have you as my mother and my children are even more blessed to have you as their grandma. Thank you for always loving me, no matter how big a butt I was being growing-up. I hope you feel you've done well, cause I think I turned out pretty dang good. Now lets hope I don't break my kids too bad.
Also on this day 33 yrs ago this wonderful lady had one wish for her birthday. All she wanted was a hot fudge sundae. Instead, she got me. Lucky lady! She got to go into labor with the most beautiful, sweetest, perfect baby girl. ME!
However, I made her wait until the 13th to meet me. I was a red head. Stubbornness was in my nature.
So onto this past Saturday, it started out like any other Sat. I went and did gymnastic trade. Yes I can still lift those 50lbs mats. And no it doesn't hurt. I'm just building birthin' muscles with all the squats.
When I got home, I helped Ty paint some Cub Scout 'Arrow of Lights'. Then we headed out to Costco and Wal-mart. Everyone needs groceries birthday or not! Also I am happy to say we finally bought the first pack of diapers for this little guy. Now he can poop in style. No more denial, he's really coming soon.
Any hoo, Ty arranged for a sitter to come so we could finally go out. We went to Olive Garden. My fav. All I can say is salad and bread sticks, mmmmmm. After that we went and saw Sherlock Holmes. Loved it!
I managed to sit through the whole movie without needing to pee. Just so you all know. LOL.
Tyler also made me an ice cream cake. It pretty much put to shame the ones that cost almost $30. He crushed 'oreos' for the crust, next came a layer of 'Rocky Road' ice cream. The middle layer was a combo of caramel syrup and chocolate covered waffle cone pieces. (which he crushed and dipped) Yeah be impressed! And the third layer was a layer of 'Cookies n' Cream ice cream. Then he frosted the whole cake with a mixture of whip cream and pudding. Garnishing it on top with 'Oreo' cookies. It was delicious. It had all of my favorite things. The man did good.
And on Sunday, I told Ty all I really wanted was to sleep in. Because it was Stake Conference, I could. And let's just say I wasn't to be seen until after 10:00 that morning when I finally rolled out of bed. Later that night my in-laws invited our family over for dinner to celebrate my birthday. We had yummy roast and potatoes. The kids had a blast running around playing with Laser Tag guns. Honestly I don't know who had more fun, Tyler and grandpa Dave or the kids.
Guess that sums up my birthday weekend. Thanks to all for the birthday wishes. It was a great time. Now let's make it through to next year.

Just a Little Thought

The other day we were watching 'Kung Fu Panda' and this little quote really caught my attention. So I thought I would share it with you all.
It's a conversation between the old wise turtle (forgot his name) and Po the doubting, new Dragon Warrior.

"Yesterday is history,
Tomorrow is a mystery,
Today is a gift,
That is why it's called the Present."

This was thought provoking for me at the time. I often find myself dwelling on things in the past or things that have already happened and are out of my control now. Those things are over and done with, move on! Or how many of us think that tomorrow will bring some great new surprise or be a better day?
Why not make the day we're living right here, right now the best day it can be. There might not be anything exciting going on, but make the down time priceless. Cherish the moments in our day when we can sit and cuddle with our children. Have you ever sat and just listened to your children play and laugh. It's priceless to hear their little imaginations at work. And all the sound effects one little 'toy' or boy can make. Or those wonderful moments when we can take a shower without being interrupted. When older kids come home from school do we welcome them home with hugs and praise and "I missed yous" or do we hurry them along to clean up their stuff and get goin' on homework? Do our older children know how much they mean to us.
When our spouses get home do greet them with a loving tone or do we 'jump down their throats' with a bunch of things that went wrong in our day and negative comment after comment? Would you want to come home to that. Do they know how appreciated they are and all the sacrifices they make for their family.
I realized I need to pause a little longer and re-evaluate some things and live in this present moment with my family and make today the best day it can be.
After all, the dishes and laundry will still be there tomorrow. That's not a mystery.
But before we know it our kids will be grown, we'll be old and more wrinkled. And I don't want to waste time wondering if I gave my kids all the love they deserve. Or if they know how special they are. I want to reflect in the joy I have being their mother and know I love them the best I can love.
I want to sit on a little porch swing holding hands with Tyler and bask in the joy of having our grandchildren running around us. I want to comfort my children when they go through their trials as parents. And cry tears of joy with them on happy occasions. And each night I want to lay down with my busband and smile to myself knowing that tomorrow is going to be as great as today!
I want to say I lived in the present and each day was gift for me.

One more thought to leave you with;

Each day comes baring it's gifts; all you have to do is untie the ribbons.

Kids' Humor

Kenzie cracked me and herself up with this little joke. I laughed more because she was so entertained by it. So I thought I'd share it with you.

How do you wake 'Lady Gaga' up?
Poker face!

She thought it was so clever. I was more shocked she knew who Lady Gaga was and that she knew she sang 'Poker Face'.
Turns out that during warm-ups in gymnastic class that listen to music and she heard the song then. Plus she's heard it on the radio.
She is growing up way to fast.

1st Grade romance.

As I was tucking Xander in for bed one night last week, he said to me, "mom I have a secret to tell you." He then whispered in my ear, "I have a crush on a girl in my class." Ahhhh!!!! What's her name? Breanne.
But, don't tell anyone!
I can honestly say that I didn't speak a word of it.
How cute is that. My little boy noticed a girl and he cheesed about it as he told me.
