Tis the Season... Again

Farm season has arrived again. This year is bringing a new challenge. And the challenges's name is Sawyer. Oh my working at a farm with an 18 month old is proving to be very fun, but very exhausting. He is everywhere! Without fear!

Most days it won't be to bad, but, the days we have 200 kindergartners roaming around may get a little scarey. Good thing I got him a beautiful Hee Haw Farms shirt. He is officially a member of the Hee Haw family. Hopefully, no one will take him home as a souvineer.

Dawson is having a hard time couping with the fact that mommy and Sawyer get to go to the farm every day and he doesn't. He's been with me everyday for the past 3 yrs and now he has to go to school. He informed me that he doesn't have to go to kindergarten, he can work at the farm too. He sure is trying.

I do have a few fun surprises planned for the kiddos this season. And they start on Saturday. I think we'll head down for some fun and dirt. The haunted hay ride starts this weekend and it's kid friendly. The corn maze is divided in 2 phases. The first phase is 3 acres and shaped like a treasure chest. The second phase is on 9 acres and is in the shape of a pirate ship. We will skip this phase. It takes about 45mins-1hr to get through it. If you don't get lost.

There's fun pig races scheduled. The kids get to go in the pig pen and try to catch a piglet. The children love it and the parents get a real good laugh. To add to the fun I'm sure we will ride on the hay ride over and over and over again.

If this doesn't ware them out enough, we'll do it all over again on Monday when I work that night. Biggest perks to the job-I can take my kids. Oh and the fact that we can all get in for free. (:

Next time I'll be sure to take my camera.

Becky's Baby Shower

First, I have to thank Becky for having twins. It gave Jen Hanna and I a perfect excuse to get together and throw her a baby shower. We spent many days and evenings crafting, planning, and creating super cute decorations.
The shower was a 'Sweet Pea' themed shower.
The invites said, "Two Peas in a pod, two bundles of joy.
Two gifts from above, one girl & one boy!
Double the mouths to feed,
Double the changing they'll need.
Let's help her get ready for diaper duty!
We decided to do a diaper shower for her because she had almost everything else she needed. Except diaper and wipes. And everyone knows how expensive it is with one bum to change, yet alone two.
Here are pics from the shower. Yes, I know there all of the decorations, but once people showed up we were too busy filling trays and visiting.

This was the diaper pod Jenn came up with instead of a diaper cake.

We made Pea Pod soaps for the guests to take home.

The shower was a success. And now Becky can relax and take it easy until Beckett and Maci make their grand debuts. We can't wait to meet the newest members to the already awesome Weaver family.

The Dog Ate My Homework?

I was tired of the never ending questions of, "mom where's my homework?" Or, "have you seen my library book?" Let's not forget the paper that needed signed and returned the next day, that mysteriously disappeared. Now multiply that by 3 kids with all levels of homework and papers due, library books, permission slips, book report assignments, science project info, and notes for mom. I decided it was time for me to become a little more organized.
I was keeping track of it all pretty well, but I can't stand cluttered counter tops. And as the year has progressed the papers are piling up and the homework is accumulating. Time for a change and organization.
I mentioned I don't like cluttered counter tops so the thought of a organizer sitting on my counter was out of the question. Space is already limited as it is. I made a cute little wall organizer. Simple is an understatement for it.
I went to Office Depot and bought some clear office file organizers that hang on a wall. I whipped out the 'Cricut' and had Tyler, yes Tyler did this part for me, Print me off the Kids's names in vinyl. A little transferring magic later and boom they were done. Hung the holders on the wall and it was  instant organization.

I love it. I can keep all the kid's stuff separated and in one place. Both Xander and Dawson bring home a homework folder on Monday and it gets returned on Friday. In addition to Dawson's folder he has a math book that stays home and a monthly homework packet that has his daily assignments for that entire month.

Xander has a monthly book report due and a different project for each report.

Mackenzie's homework is due daily but, she still has papers that need signed and reports due monthly.

The bins are big enough to hold homework, folders, math books, and library books.

I love it.

I Can Ride That.

I have a young son who must have the mind set that if he can sit on it, he can ride it. Lately, Sawyer will try and ride on anything. We have a toy dump truck and he will pull the dumper part off, sit on the base of it and scoot around on it. He does this with a 'Diego' truck we have too. It's so funny to see him attempt riding on anything with wheels. A push cart turns into a truck. Until his bum slips out of it and falls.
Dawson has a giant elephant that turned into ride on. Guess he can say he rode an elephant. hahaha
He scooted around the floor on the elephant for quite awhile. Another bonus to wood floors.
Once He tried to climb on top of the lawn mower while I was mowing. Yes, this sounds super scary and dangerous, but rest assured I did not let him. We have an electric mower and it's very safe. The blade is completely enclosed, but I was still so mean and didn't allow him to ride the mower.
But, by far my favorite is when he sat on a remote control 4-wheeler and rode it. He even added sound effects. It was awesome.
It looks like we might have a future 4-wheeling, motorcycle riding boy.

Dawson Turned 6!

Yes I know it's another post about Dawson. But can you blame me. He is my most favorite Dawson. And it was his birthday so technically he deserves another special blog just for him. And here it is.
'D' Man went through several ideas of what he wanted to do for his birthday. Luckily for him his mother is very laid back and relaxed that it didn't matter how many times he changed his mind. I think that was a nice way of saying I procrastinate till the end so nothing was bought or prepared so he could change his mind as much as he liked. Or, I'm really accommodating to my children's wants and ideas. You decide for yourself.
He finally decided on a summer slip-n-slide/pool party. With pizza and an 'Angry Birds' cake. And that's just what he got. The slip-n-slide was no problem, already had that.  Pizza, good ol' hot and ready 'Little Ceaser's'. Grab and go. Pool- got it covered. Cake=Holy Moly how am I going to pull that one off???
It took a little creativity, a lot of hope, and some prayers. And in the end I had a very happy birthday boy.

Dawson Day!

My last blog was about kindergarten evaluation day. This one is dedicated to Dawson's first day. At first, he kept saying, "I don't want to go to school. Mom you can just cancel it." But when the big day arrived so did the excitement. He picked out his clothes the night before. (A must to keep me sane in the hectic mornings.) His outfit included his new Captain America shirt and a pair of shorts. He wanted to wear his new jeans but, I said no because it was 95 degrees and we were walking. And his outfit could not be complete without new socks and new Iron Man shoes. Not to mention he was super excited to wear his camo boxers. (-:

That's one good looking Kindergartner!

Side note, When D-Man put boxers on for the first time and told him to put shorts on, he said to me, "Why do I have to wear 2 pairs of pants." Guess he wanted to be one of those boxer and tank-top wearing guys.

OK, back to school. Tyler went into work late so he could be there with us when I dropped Dawson off. It was nice to have daddy there to say good-bye. Plus that meant he could hold Sawyer while snapped pictures.

One of the things I love most about the school layout is that the Kindergarten rooms have their own door from the classroom right onto the kindergarten only playground.
