Did You See My Pumpkin Drop?

As the month of October came to a close and during the last days of Hee Haw Farms Tyler and I took the kids down to have another fun filled experience. The kids went on pony rides, shot the corn cannon, went down the giant slide, petted the animals, went on the hey ride, rode the animal train and rode in a crane.
What rode in a crane!!! That's right. The day we went the farm was sponsoring a giant pumpkin drop. They bring in a crane with a cage attached to it. Then, the crane operator lifted up giant pumpkins and dropped them from 150 feet up. Pumpkins hit old cars, a pool filled with water, a teeter totter with laptops on either end. It was a pumpkin smashing extravaganza. The kids loved it.
After the giant pumpkins were done people were allowed to pay $2.00 choose a pumpkin and be lifted up in the cage and drop their own pumpkins. We all decided 'Let's Do It!' All the kids (except Sawyer) picked their pumpkin and waited our turn.
Tyler had to pick a big pumpkin of his own. His weighed 105lbs. SHOW OFF!
Once loaded, we were raised up and that's when the tears began. It turns out Kenz has a fear of heights. As we went higher and higher she squeezing on my hand got tighter and tighter. She kept saying over and over, "that's high enough. Make it stop. I want off. Why did you make me do this."
I promise you, she was not forced to drop a pumpkin. She chose to. Guess it sounded like a good idea on solid ground.
Once the crane came to a stop the pumpkins started flying. Ty actually hit one of the lap tops. Mine just splatted on the ground. Kenz held onto me while I kicked hers off the edge. Dawson and Xander both tossed theirs over but, didn't look over the edge to see it land.
After the drop we played a little longer and I started working. Ty took the kids home for dinner and came back later that night to pick me up. When he came to get me I talked him into a little date and we went walked through the haunted forest/corn maze. I screamed and ran and was a scaredy cat. Then I giggled like a giddy school girl. It was so much fun.
Here are the pictures from our great family day.

Future farmer.
Notice he's even trying to shift gears.
That boy knows what he's doing.

No tractor ride would be complete without a light saber.

Hehehe, Sawyer is so cute.

Here we are loading the crane.

Tyler's big ol' pumpkin sitting on the side of the crane.
Notice the flock of birds flying up by us.
Yea, we were high.

If you click on the pic,
you can see Ty looking over the edge trying to line up his drop.

Warm Thoughts

Now that the weather has turned cold. I'm going to post a warm day memory.
It's never to late to think back to a few months ago when it was 100 degrees and blazing hot. The kids were playing in the pool and sprinklers. A beautiful golden tan wrapped around their backs and sun bleached hair was the summer style.
Happy warm thoughts coming your way.

I asked Dawson to throw down Sawyer's swim suit.
When he did, this is were it landed.
It was stuck on on a tiny flake of wall texture sticking out.

What summer day would be complete
without a trip down the slip-n-slide.
Sawyer had fun squishing his toes in the muddy water.

Kenzie's turn down the slip-n-slide.

The kids tried to slide down without
letting the water hit their bodies or head.
So much fun to be had in the summer time.

While hanging out with my dear friend Jen,
the kids decided to have a car wash.

Their creative imaginations even came up
the tire rack that guides the cars in.

Sawyer is waiting his turn for the car wash.

Avery is washing the car.
I mean she's washing her big brother Mason.
I don't think Mason enjoyed it much.

Here's Dawson and Avery.

We sure had a wonderful summer. It's hard to believe that the warm, summer sun has given way to the deceiving, winter sun.
It might look beautiful and sunny outside with bright, blue skies and big, white, puffy clouds but, don't be fooled it's still cold and brisk.

So until we meet again wonderful, warm, summer sun I will treasure our time together and look forward our reunion.

My Little Handy Man.

We've lived in our home for almost 12 yrs now. Which means I've been bugging Tyler for 11 years for shelves in my cold storage room. I finally got the shelves I've asked for. Honestly, I think he did it because I told him I was going to go to Home Depot and buy some wood for shelves. He snickered a little and said, "your gonna build shelves." I replied, "no, I'm gonna get some wood, and set it on the white food storage buckets and call it good."
That was my honest plan for shelves. Cheap, easy, and it works. Well, I should have known this would lead to a big ol' project. That Ty took on himself.
He decided to build some shelves for me to stack totes on. Well, he got a set done. They were beautiful. And very well built. Which left me with another request. More shelves! And Ty complied. He built shelves around the entire cold storage room with the exception of a spot for a freezer. I am a happy woman. They're already filled but, they look so dang good.
Next he's going to make some for the garage. I might only have to ask for 10 years for these. hahaha.

This is all the stuff that was in the cold storage when we started.
My handy man.

And they're done!
Please notice the pic on the rt.
Yes, the shelves are resting on white food storage buckets.
Yep, that was me. And honestly, that's all I really wanted.

The space under the top shelf on the left of the pic
is where the fridge/freezer will go.
Someday!

Ty did such a good job.
I am so happy with my shelves and all the hard work he put into them.
