Our original plan was to take the kids up the canyon to roast hotdogs and marshmallows to celebrate. Sounds fun to me. But, when my good friend Kari heard my plans she quickly told me that was no way to celebrate. She said we needed to go somewhere overnight and make it a real celebration. She even backed her plan up with an offer to keep our kids overnight.
How great is she!
Our weekend started with Ty coming home from work on Saturday with these for me.
Then on Sunday, after church we dropped the kids off at Kari's and away we went.
Ty had made reservations a cute Bed & Breakfast called, 'Castle Creek Inn.'
It was cute castle with several themed rooms. We stayed in Ivanhoe. The room had a nice fireplace and sitting area.
The room also had a waterfall jetted tub with color changing lights.
It also had a fancy It had a balcony with a little table and chair set over looking a little creek that runs through the property. I didn't get a pic of it though.
After we checked in at the B&B we heading up to Park City for a fun night painting at a place called, 'The Paint Mixer.' The Paint Mixer is a socializing / wine drinking (not us, of course) place where an instructor leads a class step by step through painting a canvas picture.
When we got there, we chose a seat with a plain, blank canvas in front of it. Then the instructor introduced herself and explained how the evening was going to go. She would give us simple instructions and then played some music while we painted what she just showed us to do.
Soon our plain, white canvases turned into awesome paintings.

Before Ty started on my painting, my big dog looked like Chewbacca.
I also forgot to put tails on 3 of my dogs. oops!

During breakfast the next morning I commented to Tyler how quiet it was and how awkward it felt to be served an actual hot meal. As a mom, my food is seldom hot when I get to eat it. Did I mention how quiet it was!
After we checked out, we headed to an early afternoon movie. It was so nice to get away from reality (aka kids) and be just the 2 of us. It was a much needed getaway.
Thank you Kari for making me leave my kids with you and forcing me to go out with my hubby.
